Human Rights in Doc form

People are asking me about the advocacy that led to being honoured with the being awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by the Governor General in the name of the Queen and all Canadians. These two short docs by award-winning filmmaker Christine Lord tell the story of the events between 2014 and 2016 that led to adding the explicit protection of gender identity or expression to the BC Human Rights Code.

Spencer Chandra Herbert, BC NDP MLA (British Columbia Member of the Legislative Assembly) encounters strong opposition on his 4th attempt introducing a bill to include gender identity and expression to the human rights code of British Columbia. Spencer is joined by several local trans rights activists who are determined to make this bill law in 2016.
